I said goodbye to my mother last night, she is in Turkey now. It was not easy to say goodbye to someone who loves you unconditionally :( My heart still hurts..

Dun aksam annemi ugurladim. Tahmin edersiniz ki hic kolay degildi onun kosulsuz sevgisinden ayrilmak. Ustinden koca bir gun ve gece gecse de hala canim yaniyor :(

Gecen hafta, annemle birlikte Ozgurluk heykeline gittik. Aslinda daha once de gitmistik ama bu defa heykelin icine girip tam 334 dar merdiveni tirmanip tacina kadar ciktik. Kapali yerde kalma korkumu biraz tetiklese de tamami elle yapilmis bu guzel heykeli bir de iceriden gormek unutulmaz bir deneyimdi. Amerika'ya Fransa tarafindan hediye edildiginde aslinda parlak kirmizi bakir rengi olan renginin, deniz tuzu ve nemden yavas yavas yesile donmesi guzelliginden hicbir sey almadigi gibi aksine inanilmaz bir hava katmis ona; Fransa heykelin yapiminda bunu hesap etmismiydi bilmiyorum ama gercekte bozulan bir seyin bu kadar guzel bir hale donusmesi harika..Keske her bozulan guzellik baska bir guzellige donusse gercek hayatta da. Kendinize iyi bakin, sevgiyle kalin :)

Last week we went up to see the Statue of Liberty with my mother. In fact, I was up to the pedestal before. This time, though, I've been all the way up to the crown. I must admit it felt a bit claustrophobic to climb the extra-tight stairs (334 steps). I was so impressed how perfect and smooth the copper sheaths were formed considering they were hand-forged, as well as the simple yet fascinating chemistry that gradually turned the shiny copper tone into verdigris. Hi everyone! I've just arrived home after a long-waited-for Memorial Day weekend. We were at Niagara Falls for 3 days and we added some wine tasting and rafting to our trip too. It was beautiful but I am so tired. We have 4 guests in town including my mom: two friends with their beautiful baby girl, another friend who used to live in NYC and moved back to Turkey last summer. I missed them and I'm very excited to have them in the city. It will be a very busy week because all of them including my mother leave this coming Sunday :(

Herkese merhaba! 3 gun suren hafta sonu tatilimizden yaklasik 15 dakika once dondum ve artik bir post yapmaliyim diyerek bilgisayarimin basina oturdum. Niagara selalesi taraflarindaydik 3 gundur. Biz daha once T ile Niagara selalesine gitmistik aslinda ama hem annemin burada olmasi, hem pazartesi gununun burada tatil olmasi, hem de ozlemle bekledigimiz yaz havasinin sonunda buralara gelmis olmasi sebebiyle bir Niagara seyahati daha duzenledik T'yle birlikte. Sadece selaleyle sinirli kalmadi aslinda gezimiz ama; neler yaptim?, ne yedim?, ne ictim? bir sonraki posta kalsin artik.
Bu arada, bu hafta sehirde 3 arkadasimiz hatta iki arkadasimizin, dunyalar guzeli 1 yasindaki kizlari da bizimle birlikte olacak :) En sevdiklerimizle keyifli, yogun bir hafta bizi bekliyor. Yalniz sonunda buyuk bir husranla!! cunku hem onlari hem de annemi pazar gunu Turkiye'ye ugurlayacagiz. Off ayriliktan bahsetmek bile icimi oyuyor su anda, konuyu hemen kapatiyorum bu yuzden.

Simdilik benden bu kadar. Sanirim bu hafta sonundan sonra gun asiri postlarla yine burada birlikte olacagiz. Haftaya bir de surprizim olacak sizlere ;) Herkese harika bir hafta diliyorum.

Harry Potter \ Universal Part II

I loved the Harry Potter theme park up in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. I’m a huge fan of the series and it was an excellent experience for me to be able to see the movie in a simulated 3D atmosphere. It was extremely realistic and I am so amazed how technology has improved over the years!!! I highly recommend this park regardless of your age, I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it.

Herkese merhaba! 6 gun suren Disneyland, Universal maceramizda kendi adima en zevk aldiklarimdan birisiydi Harry Potter bolumu. Kitap ve filmin serisinin de buyuk bir fani oldugum icin herhalde gercege cok yakin bir sekilde hazirlanmis 3 boyutlu ekran ve simulatorlerle o havayi solumak inanilmaz bir deneyimdi. Teknolojinin bu kadar ilerlemesine ve bazi seylerin bu kadar gercekci yansitilabilmesine ise sasirmadim degil!! Disney \ Universal postlari devam edecek.. Sonrasinda ise size guzel bir hediyem var. Facebook sayfam ve blog uzerinden es zamanli bir yarismanin ardindan sahibini bulacak ;)

Magic Kingdom

Hi guys! I think I'm having one of the best vacations of my life. I came to Orlando 6 days ago for a complete theme park frenzy. After an extremely intense heel-abrasive journey to Disney and Universal, today marks my last day here. We'll head to Miami & Key West tomorrow morning for the more soothing part of our trip. If you are one of my regular followers, you might remember that this will not be my first time in Miami\Key West but I'm much happier because this time my mother is with me.

I don't remember when I started collecting silk blouses and shirts but now I have 32 in my wardrobe in almost every color and style. There are so many that I almost can go without shopping for a top for the rest of my life ;) Only problem I have is %80 of my wardrobe being silk, which means I'll have to spend tons of money for dry cleaning all summer long.

Tren yolu fotograflarinin yerini burasi alacak sanirim :) Hem evimizin hemen onunde hem de belli saatlerde oldukca tenha. Iyice yabanilesmisim ben, simdi cok uzaklarda kalan o koyde.. Insan icinde degil poz vermek, konusmadan fotografimin cekilmesini bile bekleyemiyorum utancimdan. Konusarak o utangacligi atmaya calismam da niyeyse T'yi hem kizdiriyor hem de gulduruyor?!? Konusmaya basladigim anda -Yine insan mi geliyor karsidan Deniz'cim? diyor ;) Alisacagim artik yavas yavas, yani umarim. Neyse, herkesin giydiginde kendini iyi hissettigi bir seyler vardir ya, benim kendimi iyi ve rahat hissettigim tek olmazsa olmazim sanirim renkler. Vintage, 2.el alisverisine basladigim ilk zamanlardan beri dolabima ilave etmekten kendimi alikoyamadigim ve dun annemle birlikte dolabimda yaptigimiz atilacaklar, satilacaklar arastirmasinda kesfettigimiz!!! 32 adet her renk (abartmiyorum gercek sayi bu) ve modelden alip bir kenara koydugum ipek bluz ve gomlekler sayesinde yaklasik 20 yil boyunca ust parca alisverisi yapmadan idare edebilirim sanirim. Tek problem, dolabimin %80'inin ipek olmasi sebebiyle bu yaz elde avucta ne var ne yok kuru temizlemecilere yatirmak olabilir :(

Future

Photos were taken last Sunday, which was the first day we started enjoying city life after a messy moving frenzy ;) The weather was perfect and we ate the juiciest walnut cake on the face of earth. The happy face reflects my stomach's appreciation for the cake.

Yerlesiyordum, yerlestim derken 1 aydan beri Ikea, Home Depot vs. harici evden disariya adimimi atmadim desem yeridir. Bu pazar, hem bu kisir donguyu kirmak hem de yeryuzundeki en guzel cevizli keki yiyebilmek icin sonunda disari cikabildim. Fotograflardaki mutlulugumun sebebi midemdeki cevizli kek. Bu arada bloglar Turkiye'de yasaklandigindan beri yani blogumla sizlere ulasabilir olmaktan ciktim cikali hic keyfim yok :( Hepimizin emegini bozuk para harcar gibi harcayan bu sistemi, Turkiye'de olup biten her seyi, ben de uzaklardan hayret ve uzuntuyle takip ediyorum!!! Simdilik benden bu kadar..

I lost my patience

New Beginning

Hi everyone! I have been neglecting my blog lately but I have a valid excuse, believe me. I moved to New York City last month and since my last apartment was a 2 bedroom and had tons of closet space, and the new one is a much smaller 1 bedroom, it was extremely diffucult to downsize everything (especially my clothes!!!) Eventually I rented additional storage for my clothes and I think I need to move out-of-season items to the storage. I hope I don't need winter clothes for at least 5 more months :) This is the only solution I could find; so I hope it works. What a month!! Hey, look at the bright side! I now live in a big city like I used to in good old times in Istanbul. I promise I will explore every inch of it with you day by day. So stay tuned :)

Herkese merhaba! Uzun zamandir blogumu ihmal ettim biliyorum ama inanin gecerli bir sebebim vardi bunun icin. Gecen ay New York'a tasindim ben ve bundan sonra ancak kabuslarimda gorecegimi umit ettigim sehirdeki eski dairemin 2 odasini ve buranin en azindan 4 kati olan kiyafet dolaplarini bu kucuk daireye yerlestirmek hic kolay olmadi maalesef. Yaklasik 4 haftadir onu alip buraya, bunu alip suraya tasimaktan, nereye neyi yerlestirsem daha mantikli olur da alani bosa harcamamdan baska hicbir sey dusunebildigimi sanmiyorum. Oyle ki, ruyalarimda bile dolap duzenler haldeydim. Bu hikaye mutlu sonla bitti ve ben eve sigdim saniyorsaniz yaniliyorsunuz!! Sonunda buldugum cozum, sigamamaktan mutevellit, dairemizin oldugu gokdelenin icinde var olan depolardan birini tutmak oldu. Bundan sonra kiyafetlerimi Kis ve Yaz olarak ikiye ayirip mevsim donuslerinde, asansorle 4 kat yukari cikarak kiyafetlerimi asagiya indirip, evdekileri de oraya kurdugum duzenege asarak hayatimi surdurecegim. Neyse, eger burada yasadigim sure boyunca bir corap bile almazsam sanirim yerlestim ;) Iyi tarafindan bakarsak artik New York'ta yasiyorum ve ben bu kocaman sehrin her santimetresini kesfederken sizleri de buraya bekliyorum :)
